In these difficult and unprecedented times, the Arts Council of Wales recognises the serious personal and professional impacts for artists, practitioners and organisations, including schools, arising from Covid-19 as it spreads. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to offer some direction.

Lead Creative Schools

Following the 18th March announcement that all schools in Wales will close from Friday, 20 March we are asking you to pay the Creative Practitioners for all the planned Lead Creative Schools sessions regardless of any cancelled sessions due to Covid-19.

We are content for our funding to be used to meet the fees for work that may not have been delivered. Our Creative Practitioners are self-employed and as a result their livelihood will inevitably be impacted by this virus, either directly or indirectly. We want to support them as much as possible.

For those schools at the evaluation stage, we are asking you and the Creative Agents to complete this piece of work to the best of your ability, although we realise that many of the conversations may need to take place via video conferencing and by sharing files digitally.  Please contact a member of the regional team if you would like further advice on this.

We know that this may be a disappointing end to your project(s) but when the situation improves, we will explore the possibility of bringing schools together to have a collective sharing and celebration of the work undertaken. We will also invite you to be a part of the second phase of the project and the next chapter in our creative learning journey.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact your regional team.

Guidance for Creative Agents
