Perspective(s) is an exciting collaboration between Arts Council of Wales and Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales which seeks to bring about a change in how the visual arts and heritage sector reflects the cultural and ethnic diversity of our society. The project is supported by the Welsh Government as part of a collective effort to meet the culture and heritage goals of the Anti-racist Wales Action Plan.

Seven creative professionals from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds are working with seven visual arts organisations and the seven national museum across Wales to create new works and displays.

By engaging with communities to discover new perspectives and stories and exploring the visual arts through an anti-racist and decolonising lens, the seven creative professionals  are questioning and challenging current ways of thinking.

With partnership and co-creation at its heart, new exhibitions, displays, and experiences are part of the programme.

The seven creative professionals and partners are:

  • Jasmine Violet, working with Aberystwyth Arts Centre and the National Slate Museum
  • Hannan Jones, working with Artes Mundi and National Roman Legion Museum
  • Sophie Mak-Schram, working with Chapter Arts Centre and National Museum Cardiff
  • Durre Shahwar, working with GS Artists and the National Waterfront Museum
  • Sadia Pineda Hameed, working with Llantarnam Grange and the Big Pit National Coal Museum
  • Lucille Junkere, working with Oriel Myrddin and the National Wool Museum
  • Nasia Sarwar-Skuse, working with Ways of Working and St Fagans National Museum of History

Another key aim of the programme is to support creative professionals from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds in their careers, by providing them with the networks, skills and experience of working with culture and heritage organisations.

The project is supported by the Welsh Government as part of a collective effort to deliver the Anti-racist Wales Action Plan.
