The Arts Council of Wales/ Amgueddfa Cymru Widening Engagement Action Plan included an action on establishing and embedding best practices standards for user, audience and visitor experience at arts/cultural venues and national museums. This piece of work was taken forward through a further series of in depth conversations with disabled people across Wales, sharing their experiences of engaging in the arts and heritage sector. We are delighted to now be in a position to publish the culmination of that work in the form of a report which looks in detail at the visitor experience and accessibility for disabled patrons in Wales. The report sets out what the best disabled visitor experience looks like and what disabled visitors should expect as a minimum level of experience.

There will be a third and final phase of this work, due to begin in April which will take the form of a series of focus group discussions with venues and galleries across Wales.

The full report can be found below, along with a series of accessible videos which capture directly the visitor experience from a range of lived experience from disabled people.

We are grateful to Richie Turner Associates who undertook this work on behalf of Arts Council of Wales and Amgueddfa Cymru.
